The year 2020 was and is still a turbulent year full of challenges for all industries. Despite that it has been very busy for us thanks to numerous product developments, several awardings and exciting publications. To be close to our customers does not merely mean geographical proximity. Its essence comes from the ability to listen and to fully understand the needs of each customer and to jointly develop or improve the best possible solutions.

We proudly joined Scandinavia’s most important meeting place for the automotive industry in January: Automässan 2020 in Gothenburg. Automässan was an excellent opportunity to meet existing customers and to initiate new cooperations. A very special project was created at the exhibition with our Finnish customer ADA Drive. We presented the latest features in the TecDoc Catalogue as well as Repair and Maintenance information (RMI).

Following on from our success at the event in Riyad we made a convincing impression at our very first Auto Expo Components. Our Indian team had successfully organized demos and presentations for the visitors willing to know more about TecDoc and Order Manager. It was amazing to have a large number of footfalls at the booth from various industry functions. Automechanika Riyadh 2020 was the perfect place for us to meet global manufacturers and suppliers, explore key trends across the industry and source the latest solutions to meet the evolving needs of the region’s largest market. The new, flexible and future-ready generation of the Product Management Analytics, PMA 2.0, has successfully been launched at the beginning of March. In a virtual live presentation, Tanja Zipperer, Product Owner of the PMA solution, has introduced the new PMA 2.0 and its significant improvements to our customers. All PMA 2.0-users benefit from a modern, user-friendly interface, optimized and redesigned analysis types, more frequently updated reports, new regions for competitor analysis, the new option to get usage data of TecDoc Catalogues in PMA reports and a simple and efficient user administration.

More than 400 global users in 3 groups have been migrated smoothly in March. Via various live webinars, held in English, German and Italian, Tanja and her team shared in-depth knowledge about all new and/ or improved functionalities and how to make the most out of PMA for the everyday work.

With the launch of our “Aftermarket Podcast” in April, we have been offering a completely new information and entertainment format for the industry. In discussions with decision-makers from industry, trade and workshops, we provide exciting insights into the market. Interesting characters of the big “players” but also “hidden champions” get a platform to discuss their perspective on current topics. The Aftermarket Podcast is available everywhere where podcasts are available. In addition, we provide a complete transcript of each episode on our website.

In the first episode, TecAlliance’s VP Marketing Christian Müller talked to Matthias Moritz, Managing Director Asia at TecAlliance, about the consequences of COVID-19 for the aftermarket business in China. In the second episode Christian interviewed Anja Heinl, Managing Director of ATH-Heinl who sees growth opportunities for workshop equipment despite currently declining sales figures.

The Automotive Report 2020 is the result of this  great team effort.

We are proud that our Chinese team was honored with the coveted Golden Wing Award in the category “Best Data Service Provider by Parts Manufacturer” in Rui’an, Zhejiang at the end of August. The ceremony was held as part of the “Three heads and six arms 2020 – China automotive parts industry brand conference” and attracted international and domestic well-known parts manufacturers and representatives from automotive parts platforms.

Even if the crisis will continue to demand a great deal from the aftermarket community well into the new year and is primarily aimed at creating flexible added value, we are happy about the development we’ve reached so far: With more than 185 brands on board, the Chinese Automotive Aftermarket community is continuously growing.

20 years ago, TecCom GmbH was officially founded at Automechanika Frankfurt. The “TecCom” project started right here and the young start-up developed an industry solution that linked replacement parts manufacturers and wholesalers in the automotive aftermarket, allowing them to automate order processing. Today, Order Manager is more powerful than ever and is used by more than 35,000 wholesalers and 280 suppliers worldwide.
